A baby wearing a white lace gown and dark button-up leather shoes sits on draped white fabric. There is a speckled canvas background. The edges of the image have been dodged to give a soft glow to the subject.

The photo is stamped Schmelding in gold leaf in the bottom margin along with an E. Y. S. monogram in gold and 828 Market St., Chattanooga, Tenn. A gold border runs along the inner margin of the cabinet card.
