The man is wearing a straw boater (skimmer) hat with a dark headband. He’s also wearing a dark colored cutaway jacket, white straight tie, with a cutaway collar. His pants are light colored and he’s wearing dark leather shoes. He has a mustache.

The woman is wearing a two-piece traveling suit, fitted sleeves with puffy shoulders pieces with flaps and an upturned collar. Her blouse is light colored and she’s wearing a large necklace or a fabric decorative jacket closure. Her waist is cinched and her traveling skirt is full-cut. In her right hand, she’s holding a semi-circular hand fan. In her left hand, a black umbrella, which she has resting on her left shoulder.

In the background, you can see the cupola of the Point Hotel and a faint line of the Tennessee River and Moccasin Bend.
